Trump wants concrete board for cement casing in cement factory
President Donald Trump is looking to add more concrete board to cement factories, a senior White House official said Tuesday.
The administration wants concrete boards in the production process for cement cement and other products, including concrete slab and the cement casing for concrete, according to the official.
White House spokesman Sean Spicer said Trump has talked with both President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines and President-elect Donald Trump about the matter.
The concrete board was proposed in 2017 by the Department of Labor and would have required the cement factory to use concrete, which is much more durable and less corrosive than regular cement.
A White House spokesperson told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the administration is still working with the cement company on concrete boards and that the company has been responsive to the administration’s request.
The Philippine government had been lobbying to have the board implemented, and it was one of the first countries to announce plans to put it into effect in 2017.
The Philippine president has called for a ban on concrete on the countrys roads, and the Philippine government has been in the midst of building a concrete wall on its border with China to try to stop illegal fishing in the area.
