How to make cement composite boards from scratch
HONG KONG — An engineer at a construction firm in southern China has used cement composite components to build a building from scratch for the first time.
The Shanghai-based construction company has already built a building out of plywood and reinforced it with cement boards, according to a report published in the South China Morning Post.
The company, which specializes in construction, said in a statement the new building would be the first of its kind in China.
It said it was able to produce a building with a high degree of integrity.
The new building, which is about a dozen floors tall, was made of a single layer of cement composite material.
The cement board has been used to build many other buildings over the years, including a swimming pool and a shopping mall in Beijing.
The cement board was also used to create a high-rise apartment building in New York City and a movie theater in Los Angeles.
